Exhaust water shutter is a genuine Mercury Marine part used to prevent water intrusion and maintain proper exhaust flow. Installed in‑line of the exhaust system after the riser, it protects the engine by blocking water from entering back up the exhaust. Used on all MerCruiser 3.0L engines, select inline‑4 and inline‑6 models, and select pre‑1989 V8 engines.
Replacement is recommended if you hear metallic noise from the rear of the exhaust or find melted rubber sections in the lower‑unit exhaust passage.
